tea cup still life 1
Rhonda Hartis Smith © 2008
This is the first of my tea cup series. So far I have 6 to paint. I found this cup and saucer when I went antiquing last weekend. It has a beautiful purple on the outside but the inside is gold, like lusterware. You know how I am, if the painting is in my studio, I will continue to work on it so it may change. Any suggestions on what to name this? I can never come up with a witty title so I need help! Hope to see you next Saturday at the Lost River Art Show, I’ll be there from 10:00 to 5:00.

I am not good at coming up with names, but will suggest one anyhow. Tranquil moments.
This is such a peaceful painting.
Cant wait to see all the series.
Suzanne,
I really like that, it does look tranquil doesn’t it?
Thanks,
Rhonda
OHHHH!…one of my favorite things!
Lovely! Others to come…GOODY!
Cousin Deborah
Beautiful painting Rhonda..the cup sounds lovely..you’ve captured the golden glow so well..I love Suzanne’s suggestion..it reminds me a morining cuppa..so ‘Sunday morning’ Thanks for your kind words..I’m feeling much more like myself!! Gxx
Nice. Good luck at the show.
Rhonda, I love this painting. The cherries (are they?) caught my eye immediately…and plays off the violet so well. Can’t wait to see the rest.
And good luck at the art show!
Hi Cousin Deborah,
I’m painting these for you since you like tea cups so much.
Hi Gina,
Glad you’re doing well, it usually takes a little while to feel 100%. The cup in looks much better in real life but I like to try.
Mary,
Thanks for stopping by and the good luck wishes.
Sandra,
Yes they’re cherries and thank you so much. Guess I’d better get started on the next one!
I think Suzanne hit the nail on the head. “Tranquil Moments” is perfect. It’s lovely, Rhonda.
Hi Rhonda! Here I am on my weekly visit! And this week we have a nice cup of tea. OK! I’ll have some scones with it…
Have a great Sunday!
Blogtrotter, now «Deep in Crete»!
Ohhh, very pretty. I’m no good with names either so I’m not much help there. You might name it by the color. . . this one could be called ‘lilac’ and then the next FIVE (very impressive goal btw!) could be named after the predominant color in each painting. Just an idea with the disclaimer that I’m no good at naming paintings.
